The Policy team focuses on bringing together scientists and policy makers.
I graduated with a Master’s degree in Political Science from Sciences Po Grenoble, specializing in the integration of emerging technologies into public policies, with a focus on the biotechnology market and its related sectors. I worked four years of experience at the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, working in economic diplomacy dedicated to health innovation.
Last but not lease, I am currently serving as a biotechnology policy officer for the Centre for Future Generations.
Nina Youssoufou - Team Leader
Ivelina Kadiri is a regulatory compliance professional and space policy researcher specialising in genetic data governance, dual-use frameworks, and the intersection of synthetic biology with emerging space life sciences regulation. She holds a PhD from the University of Economics – Varna, where her dissertation examined genetic data-driven customer relationship management, and currently serves as Senior Regulatory Compliance Manager at AMPECO, an EV charging management platform operating across 80+ markets.

Srimathi Lakshminarasimhan
Martain holds an MSc in Bioengineering and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (Belgium). He discovered Synthetic Biology during an EMBL pratical course early in his Ph.D., an experience that reshaped the direction of his research and strengthened his interest in understanding how living systems function and can be engineered. His research combines biosensor engineering and mathematical modelling to explore dynamic regulation in microbial cells. Alongside his Ph.D., he is also pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science, reflecting his interest in European governance and innovation policy. This interdisciplinary perspective motivated him to join the European Synthetic Biology Society as a Policy Associate, where he aims to contribute to discussions surrounding the European bioeconomy and the future of Synthetic Biology in Europe. Outside of the lab, he enjoys scuba diving (with a particular fascination for cephalopods) and long-distance hiking.
