Circular Systems at the Crossroads of Fashion and SynBio

Circularity in fashion demands not only new materials but also new mindsets and systems. This panel brings together two unique perspectives: Ariyana Rayatt, a voice for sustainable fashion and the cultural shift needed to embrace it, and Polybion, the biotech company behind Celium®, a next-generation material grown from bacterial cellulose. Guiding the discussion will be Nina from the EUSynbios policy team, who will frame the dialogue around governance, ethics, and scalability. Together, the panel will explore how synthetic biology can bridge design and science to create garments that are regenerative by design. From rethinking supply chains to developing scalable biomaterials, this conversation will highlight the challenges and opportunities of building a truly circular fashion ecosystem.
