A new beginning for EUSynBioS!

As the SynBio community continues to expand, we, at EUSynBioS, felt we needed a fresh start! What’s better than starting with a new website? In the last year we have been working on renewing and updating our website. In this blog we will highlight all the new features, as well as our plans and ideas for the upcoming months.

During the last decade in Europe, there has been a growing interest, in the field of SynBio, reflected in the growing number of SynBio laboratories, industries, and start-ups. EUSynBioS was founded in 2014 with the goal of bringing together people with different backgrounds. Our aim was to connect academia, industries and policy makers interested in bringing about change by SynBio means, as well as spreading the word for the new technologies and discoveries of the field and promoting the scientific development, and the positive impact SynBio can have. We described the current situation in Europe in detail in our article published in 2022.

While our vision hasn’t changed, after almost 10 years, we thought it was the right time to renovate our website. We remodeled and improved the design, but most importantly, we can finally introduce the new features we have added. We introduced the EUSynBio Map, which will allow us to have a comprehensive overview of the laboratories working on different aspects of SynBio within Europe, as well as their specific topic of research and contact details. The map is a great tool to stay updated and network within the European community.  Whether you are a researcher looking for potential collaborators or a student seeking opportunities for internships, this comprehensive map can serve as your guide in navigating the European synthetic biology landscape.

With the goal of staying updated on the latest events, we also introduced the SynBio calendar. With this, we will be offering a global overview of all upcoming synthetic biology-related events, workshops, webinars, conferences, and symposia. This feature ensures you'll never miss an important date and keeps you updated with exciting opportunities for learning, networking, and contributing to the broader dialogue in the field of synthetic biology.

Conducting research in synthetic biology requires access to a wide range of tools and resources and for this reason, we introduced the Researcher toolbox. It compiles an array of valuable tools for synthetic biology research, ranging from databases, genetic design tools, lab protocols, to various software and online resources. By housing these resources in a single, easy-to-access location, we aim to streamline your research process and enhance your productivity.

Our updated EUSynBioS website signifies our ongoing commitment to fostering collaboration and knowledge-sharing within the synthetic biology community in Europe and beyond. We invite you to explore these new features, and we're confident you will find them useful in your work and research. We appreciate your continued support and participation in EUSynBioS. As we look to the future, we are excited about the many opportunities for growth, innovation, and discovery in the fascinating realm of synthetic biology. We encourage you to make full use of the revamped website, and we look forward to hearing your feedback as we continually strive to serve you better.

Last but not least, our team also grew during the last months. Want to meet all the (new) EUSynBio faces? Stay tuned for the next introductory blog!
