Who we are

The European Association of Synthetic Biology Students and Postdocs (EUSynBioS) was founded as a student-led initiative in late 2014. Our goal is to shape and foster a community of young researchers active the young scientific discipline of synthetic biology within Europe by means of providing an integrative central resource for interaction and professional development.

What we do

EUSynBioS strives to support young synthetic biology researchers in Europe through academic and industrial collaboration. We aim to sponsor professional development events, create internship and mentoring opportunities for our members, and collaborate with related associations and communities all over the world.

How it works- For Students and Post-docs

Membership to EUSynbioS is free and open to any synthetic biology student or post-doc based in Europe. To join, simply click the orange button above. You are then subscribed to EUSynBioS Pulse, our regular newsletter packed with information on upcoming events, new research, policy and ethics reports, job opportunities, and more. Members are also eligible for internships and mentoring opportunities with our industry partners. Finally, members get access to EUSynbioS events including an annual symposium, smaller socials and workshops at various conferences across Europe, and site visits with our industry partners. These meetings are a great place to discuss ideas, meet other researchers and PIs and keep in touch with the community.

How it works- For Industry

We are actively looking for new industry partners. In exchange for a membership fee used to support symposia and professional development events, industry partners will benefit from full access to the EUSynBioS community: they will not only be able to advertise featured jobs via the initiative’s web presence and social media channels, but also track and recruit talented synthetic biology students and postdocs via its membership database, mentoring scheme, and industry site visits. Industry partners are furthermore invited to directly interact with leading academics and stay up-to-date with latest developments in synthetic biology research at the annual conference of EUSynBioS, and eligible to contribute important strategic guidance to the initiative as members of its advisory board.
